I've decided this community has been dormant for far too long, so what better way to revive it than with a contest, eh? In honor of the new LiveJournal store hosted by Zazzle, I want to see everyone's awesome LiveJournal merchandise.

Here's what you do: Leave a comment to this entry with a photo (either linked or here of you (or your friend, or your cat, or whatever) wearing/holding/being awesome with your favorite piece of LJ-themed merchandise, such a t-shirt, hat, bag, cup, whatever. You can post submissions between now and September 20th, 2009.

Here's what I'll do: On September 21st, I'll pick an entry at random, and that user will win a $5.00 LiveJournal gift certificate, which can be used for paid time, extra userpics, or Vgifts!

EDIT: chasethestars has agreed to join in the prize-giving fun. A second random entry will receive some mini-LJ buttons! (They're little pins with the LJ logo - I have some, they're pretty awesome. :D)

Here's the rules:

- The image must be your own. If you steal someone else's, your entry won't be eligible.
- This contest is hosted by me, not LiveJournal, so if you don't win, you have to complain to me, not LiveJournal. =P
- All images must be safe-for-work. We're showcasing LJ merchandise here, not...other things.
- Images must be posted before 11:59pm PST on September 20th, 2009
- Feel free to comment on each other's pictures. However, there will be no mocking, harassing, or otherwise attempting to make any submitter feel bad about themselves or their pictures. Any such comments will be screened, and submissions made by the poster will be disqualified. Repeated negative comments will result in banning from the community altogether.
- This is supposed to be fun. So have some. :D

I'm only missing a few things from my collection now!

I made a post in iconaddicts of some icons I'd made, and someone suggested I post them here. Below is the same post, but here instead of there.

Out of boredom, I created some Livejournal-themed icons. They're done in several styles, and in a couple variations, as I will explain below. This first icon is actually the last icon I created. I wanted to put in place a clever saying, related to LJ, but my mind is fried. So I just made this:


These next two icons aren't strictly LJ-themed, though related, I suppose. The second icon was created because I grew tired of having multiple icons for different holidays taking-up space, and only using them once a year (and you might say that the spirit of Christmas should continue through the whole year...and while I might agree, Christmas icons shouldn't. lol

In today's issue of Cornell University's Daily Sun newspaper publication, you can find a photograph of me sitting next to Bill Nye the Science Guy. Although this is pretty nifty in and of itself, I also happened to be wearing my brand new LiveJournal merch when the picture was taken.

As you can see, the pencil logo is clearly visible. How's that for publicity?

I went on an icon spree for the lj_promote quotations. I think it might've gotten out of hand...
